Movie Night at the Theatre

A weekly watch party at the Decentraland Theatre.

Watching a movie alone is easy. Watching one with a room full of people who showed up for the same film is better.

NOBODY WATCHES ALONE HERE

Watching a movie by yourself is easy. Watching one with friends who live in different cities, on different clocks, is the part that never quite works. Screen-share lag. Someone always pausing for snacks. A group chat that goes quiet by minute ten.

The Theatre in Decentraland handles the hard part. Every Wednesday a crowd files in, the film starts on time, and the chat runs the whole way through. People react as it plays and the conversation continues afterward.

You don't need to coordinate. It’s ok to show up on your own, take a seat on the bean bag chairs, and you'll be watching with everyone else in real time across the globe.

TODAY AT THE THEATRE

July 8: People Are the Sky
Korean American filmmaker Dai Sil Kim-Gibson returns to her birthplace in North Korea for the first time in nearly 70 years. An intimate, visually striking reflection on home and what division does to memory.

Two screenings, so you can catch it wherever you are: 2pm and 8pm UTC.

The series signs off July 15 with I, Doll, a sharp, funny look at how six ounces of plastic became a cultural icon.

MOVIES NOT YOUR THING?

There's something happening in Decentraland most hours of the day, not just on movie night. A few of the events happening this week:

→ Building sessions with other creators
