The Devs Did Some Things: Cycle 9 Recap 💪
Cycle 9 just wrapped with more powerful maps, an improved camera, and exciting Creator Hub additions!
What are the Dev Cycles? In 2023, the Decentraland Foundation adopted the Shape Up methodology to deliver product updates more efficiently and effectively. Every development cycle is centered around a theme to improve a key area of the Decentraland platform.
For Cycle 9 the focus was on the Map and Discoverability.
📍Categories are BACK: Got a list of must-visit spots? No problem—mark them as “Favorites” to keep all of them in one convenient place
📅 Places Panel Upgrade: 3 different sections to showcase your parcel have been added AND there's an events tie in
🌓 Control the Sky: god mode activated with the handy day/night cycle widget
🔓Dynamic Material Effects Unlocked: Creators now have more flexibility to craft immersive and interactive 3D scenes by controlling material textures—directly through code.
📸 Say “Cheese!”: Get ready to create that social content—the camera is improved and better than ever! Tilt with Q/E, move up/down with R/F, and zoom out even further for the perfect shot!
In addition to all of these exciting feature upgrades, the devs also pushed out Release 0.52 addressing community-reported bugs.

Last Call for Builders 🫶
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and the focus is on the DCL Builders!
Jump in Tuesday, February 11, 2025, for the Builder Talent Trail, an exciting virtual tour where innovation and imagination collide to showcase some of the best builds in Decentraland.

Important Dates:
Friday, January 31: 10pm UTC / 2pm PST, all Open Call builds must be submitted.
Wednesday, February 5: selected builds are chosen and announced.
Tuesday, February 11: the in world tour begins and Community Choice Award opens on Discord.
Thursday, February 14: the Community Choice Award vote closes and the winners are announced.
